A recent discovery of several volumes of old Masterton Racing Club minutes has sparked a history hunt, says committee member Trevbor Martin.
Mr Martin and the Wairarapa Archive's Gareth Winter are appealing for any old documents or photographs relating to the club's history.
He hoped to gather enough reecords to compile the first official history of the club.
The Tauherenikau-based Wairarapa Racing Club is the only club in the region to have been chronicled.
Mr Winter expected a history of the club would be well utilised by visitors to the archive.
